Helping young adults thrive in their new communities

Project Overview

Problem

As young adults graduate from college or move to take advantage of new opportunities, they oftentimes have difficulty developing a new support system and community from scratch. Consequently, having a lack of support networks tends to contribute to depression and social isolation.

Solution

We designed an app that acts as a directory of all the different social events and locations (e.g. restaurants, cafes, recreational places) each city has. …

Background info

For many people, college is the first time they start exploring the housing and housemate market. However, there is no centralized platform or guide students can refer to as they begin their search. Their inexperience and the lack of trustworthy resources, coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic preventing many from exploring campus neighborhoods, make the housing and housemate search especially hard for these first-timers.

The UniMate Team

Background

This past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a massive transition from physical spaces such as schools to digital platforms like Zoom. Due to the lack of physical and social interaction, remote learning has made it difficult for students to connect with both their coursework and their peers.

Project Overview

Notion is a hugely popular note-taking and data management tool for both individuals and large corporations alike. However, not everyone finds it easy to navigate. Over the course of a six-week sprint process, our team redesigned Notion’s navigation system to make it easier for users to find the pages they need.

Justice Calendar Mockup

Project Overview

Justice is a Marathon, Not a Sprint

Justice Calendar is an application that helps users schedule small amounts of time out of their day regularly to consume content about racial inequity. Our client, Professor Tom Maiorana, came to us with a broad idea for a scheduling app to fight social inequity, which we then narrowed down the racial inequity and focused on prototyping a Google Chrome extension.
